Nice Umbrella But Kind of SmallSep 24, 2009
By C. Ang
"cliff_ang"
I bought this umbrella because of the strong winds in Chicago and for the flexibility of being able to put it in my work bag for those unpredictable moments. The GustBuster brand is well-known especially in golf, where most of the golf umbrellas now have a similar feature to prevent the umbrella from turning when the wind blows hard. This version of the GustBuster is much smaller than the usual golf umbrella, which is around 60+ inches. The main downside of the 43-inches is that it was not enough to keep the bottom half of my pants and shoes dry. However, this umbrella is very well-constructed and it is obvious when you take a look at the amount of support that the GustBuster has compared to other umbrellas. I feel confident this umbrella will last a very long time.

Works in the WindFeb 26, 2010
By Marc I recommend this especially if you live somewhere (like NYC) where the wind tends to tear apart your umbrellas. I've never had a problem with this one no matter how strong the wind is blowing. Its slightly bigger than I'd like when compressed to fit in a bag, but think its a decent size when opened up. I will say the handle is shorter than I'd like as I'm pretty tall and would prefer something that I don't need to hold above chest height. Overall, a very good umbrella.
DON'T BUY!!Dec 01, 2010
By BMac I've never felt compelled to write a product review until I purchased this umbrella. After using it four times: two straps attaching the fabric to the spines have ripped off; one of the tabs in the shaft that is supposed to pop out to hold the umbrella in the closed position doesn't so I can't close it. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
Solid umbrellaFeb 24, 2010
By A. Dawson This is a solid umbrella. I use it in New York City, where it rains a lot and the winds can get pretty high. It is big enough for one person to keep dry and it won't invert when it's windy.

Works as adverstised, feels a little bit cheap.Mar 15, 2010
By thok Overall I really liked it, but as soon as I bought it the little tassel loop broke off. I thought that was awfully fast for something so new, and a bad sign. The grip is also pretty worn for so few uses. The rubberized peel appears to be wearing off. I hate to see things like this because they make a product seem low-quality.
The umbrella itself is working great, it really can handle a gust. It is so well made that when a big gust came in last weekend it almost took the umbrella and my girlfriend with it. It never once turned inside out.
Would recommend again, but suggest making the loop stronger. Works as advertised.
UPDATE 11-5-2010
So I've had it for a year now and it has worked mostly as I described above until about a week ago when one of he joints came apart. So one of they "arms" that holds the umbrella taut flaps around uselessly. The umbrella still works since the other 7 arms hold most of the umbrella taut. I fixed it myself though, by cutting a large safety pin into a loop and winding it through the hole where the little rivet came out of the joint. Works just fine now.
